Stayed with my friends over the weekend at Intercontinental Hotel in Dubai and it was superb. Originally, my booking was for a king bed superior suite but however was upgraded to a two bedroom suite. Arrived at past 4 in the afternoon, upon check in, the room was not available until after 45 more minutes. Being just beside the mall, we decided to just walk and shop while we wait; with our bags to be sent to the room once ready. The reception had advised us through phone call, to confirm the belongings have been sent and room is ready. Had we not been upgraded, I would have been displeased for the wait as we have driven from Abu Dhabi and were hoping to freshen up when we reach the hotel. The rooms were clean, the reception and concierge where friendly, even offered a late check out for us. The facilities are good, location is great as just beside a huge shopping mall and near the venue of an event we went to. Internet service is free however signal strength is weak. I would have given them a higher rating if I had book the suite; I am yet to see and experience smaller rooms. Of course you expect a suite to be fancy and lavish so definitely you will like it; but would be interesting to know if same goes for a smaller room and when travelling with kids. Their website is good too; I appreciate that they have a chat session with their staff should you have inquiries or require additional information re the hotel facilities. A quicker way to get answers instead of making a phone call and being on hold and patched to from person to person.

I stayed at The Intercontinental for 3 weeks over the Christmas period 2010 with my husband and 3 year old daughter. I thought the rooms were really modern, clean and spacious with amazing views. It was a perfect hotel to stay in at that time of year, there was lot's to do nearby at The Festival City Mall with fantastic firework displays at the weekends and funfair and indoor children's fun park within walking distance. I found the staff very friendly and the hotel overall was a good choice, however I think I would prefer to stay near to the beach in warmer months of the year simply for the reason that the pool area wasn't very big. The buffet breakfast had good variety and was nicely presented. The Internet wasn't free in the room, but it was free if you used the wifi in the lobby. We particularly liked the Michellin star restaurant Reflets by Pierre Gagnaire, it was fantastic and staff were very attentive. We also really liked the Eclipse bar on 26th Floor, it had a kind of secret sliding door to enter the bar and the views were amazing. All in all I wouldn't hesitate to stay in this hotel again
Visiting the Intercontinental was surely a treat. I had a Lunch Buffet at restaurant and boy was it good. It surely is a treat for both Veg and Non Veg categories with various options and delicacies. There are many delicacies which are already prepared fresh and many more which they would cook and prepare it for you as per your choice. Non Veg option would be the best as there are by far many options to choose from seafood, different types of meats. different styles of food such as Arabic, Chinese, Thai, Indian, etc... were also available. Deserts were the best with again lot of options.. All this for AED 165 per head.
