Hands down, Sho Cho is the best Japanese restaurant in town, definitely beating Toki in the Corniche Hilton. I would definitely recommend the salmon skin roll, and the ginger salad. Their raspberry mojitos are also delicious if you don't mind a mojito being extra sweet. A little on the expensive side, but the food and the experience make up for it.
Sho Cho is not family friendly for dinner. If you are irritated by people dancing next to your table while you eat, it's best you avoid the restaurant after 10:00 PM as it turns more into a lounge and a strict 21+ policy is implemented, big scary bouncer in the front and all.
Aside from the food, the music is the highlight of this place. DJGEM and DJ Alex Lees play some terrific music. Fridays are 80's and 90's nights which are a blast!
Sho Cho probably has the best sushi in Abu Dhabi. The setting is nice on the beach of the Shangrilla souq, especially at night when it's breezy. Their food is really good. I really wasn't much of a sushi eater prior to coming here, but the chef definitely changed my mind. They also have some great dishes if you aren't much of a sushi lover, like their beef options. I would recommend coming here with your friends or spouse, as it's setting isn't really kid friendly.
My friends have been raving about this place for ages, so naturally I had very high expectations. I only just had a chance to go there last week, and though I wasn't actually disappointed, I wasn't all that impressed either. I have to say, though they do hae outdoor seating (which I normally prefer) the ambience indoors is much nicer. I had the California rolls, which are fool proof. They're good anywhere you might have them, but the real kicker was the dessert - chocolate fondant and green tea ice cream is a fantastic combination - just make sure to order well in adance as it will take a full 20 minutes to prepare. It's a little bit on the pricey side - especially if you're having alcohol, but worth it. The only downside is the long drive out for what you can get at basically any Japanese restaurant inside the city.
Sho Cho was my introduction to sushi and I've never looked back.
Great view, great food, great service; this place is just one of the best Japanese food restaurants in Abu Dhabi.
Try their calamari salad (very basic dish, fantastic dressing) and of course any and all sushi rolls.
Do call ahead because they close between lunch and dinner.
