In a city full of hotel dining and buffets with international cuisine, Sofra at the Shangrilla hotel is probably the best of them. You can get food from every corner in the world, whether it's sushi and dumplings, mezzah and shish tawouq, or even some chicken nuggets and french fries for the kids. Sofra is the type of place you want to go to if you have an appetite, but don't quite know what you want to eat. WIth their chocolate fountains and ice cream with crepes, I am yet to find a better desert station in any UAE restaurant. I would say the only negative of the restaurant is it's price. You are dining at a five star hotel, and expect to settle the bill as such, with the price per adult usually above 200 dirhams. If you have the chance to dine there once in a while, do so, as you probably won't find a better all round restaurant in the city.
You can’t think of many places in the city where you can happily heap Lebanese, Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Emirati, Indian and British cuisine on to the same plate. Certainly none that present their offerings so impressively, with spits of ready-to-grill meat and fish encased in dramatic ice sculptures. Thankfully, with top quality food , Sofra’s is still one of the best brunches in the city for me... definitely it deserved to get the ahlan 2011 best food brunch in abou dhabi
