I have been to McGettigan’s many times, it is an Irish family run and owned Irish Bar in Dubai. It is a very friendly venue with the atmosphere and quality that defines an Irish bar. The decor is quaint with part log cabin and part library. It is a great place to chill out and have a meal and a few drinks. Later in the night there is loud dance music and you can dance the night away on the dance floor, or just relax and sit back and watch people, enjoying the atmosphere. They also have regular live entertainment and pub quizzes. This venue is always alive and buzzing with people.
The food is delicious and hearty with portions that are generous and filling. I recommend the fish and chips with mushy peas and the home made burger, the food is of excellent quality and reasonably priced. They also do a good value weekend brunch, an ideal venue for a get together with friends for a few drinks and great comfort food. There is a limited selection for vegetarians, otherwise the food is fantastic.
Sometimes it can get Smokey inside but there is also an outside garden area, which is less smokey if you want to take a breather. The garden area is air conditioned and covered with a temporary roof during the summer months.
McGettigan’s Irish Bar is definitely a must in Dubai for it's great ambiance, music, food and drinks.
The moment you walk in Buddha bar you immediately feel that the place is something special. It exudes glamour and laid back sophistication. The restaurant is huge, spread across two floors. there are numerous smaller lounges and private dining areas including upstairs lounge area, as well as a sushi bar. The main dining area is adorned by a huge Buddha statue, adds mysticism to the atmosphere. The decor is impressive and the atmosphere is amazing.
The menu is extensive with various mouth watering Asian cuisines - the sushi, the black cod and the Thai Green Curry are superb. There is also an extensive wine list and the bar serves incredible cocktails. The food is excellent and service is impeccable, with attention to detail that is unrivaled.
This is a must in Dubai for a perfect evening, although slightly expensive it is well worth the money.
I have been to Toro Toro at Grosvenor House, Tower II on two ocassons. The front of house service is excellent and very friendly. The venue is very impressive, with amazing decor and is very spacious. There are two floors, the ground floor is for dinning and upstairs, there is a large lounge for drinks and snacks. The cuisine is Pan Latin, with flavours from across south America - including Argentina, Brazil, peru and Columbia. The menus is divided into three sections; Fom the sea (seafood), from the land (meat and poultry) and from the garden (salad and vegetables). The food was delicious, but portions are small sized, so it is best to order a few dishes to share. We tried the Cerviche, Crispy Calamari, Palopmilla steak and the beet salad which were all very good. There is a smoking section in the dinning area and in the lounge upstairs. The first time I dinned at Toro Toro was during the week, the food and service was excellent.
The second time, however was at the weekend, when I went for drinks with friends at the upstairs lounge. The service was disappointing, we ordered cocktails, we had to remind the waiters 3 times of our order before they finally reached our table after 45 minutes. One of our snack dishes was also forgotten.
Overall Toro Toro is an impressive venue with beautiful decor and nice atmosphere. The food is delicious but is expensive for the portion sizes. The service needs to be more organized and mproved upon
I have been to Spectrum on One a few times for dinner and their food is always outstanding. Spectrum on One is a unique and creative dining concept that give you the opportunity to try many cousines in one visit - European, Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Indian, Italian and Arabic. They also have a great selection of wines and cocktails. Food is fresh and delicious, and if you party orders from the different restaurants it all arrives at the same time. We had the roasted Peking duck which was excellent. Any of the spicy green curry dishes make for an excellent meal on the Thai menu, and the black Angus beef tournedos with seared foie gras is also recommended. Over the summer months, Spectrum on One had a great deal - Facebook Desirable Deduction promotion! 50% off on your total bill, which was an amazing deal for fantastic food. The Friday brunch is also highly recommended, but on the expensive side. The staff are friendly, attentive and knowledgeable of the cuisines and wines. Spectrum On One is a superb restaurant and with a great variety of food, I would go back again and again.
I stayed at the Al Murooj Rotana Hotel recently and it was a very pleasant experience. It is in a fantastic location being few minutes walking to Dubai Mall and to Downtown Burj Khalifa. The room rates are reasonable in comparison to other hotels in the same location. Staff were very friendly, attentive and welcoming, the check in was done smoothly and quickly and was we were given orange juice while waiting. The room was very spacious, modern and clean with tea and coffee facilities and the necessary bathroom amenities. The TV channels were limited and you have to pay extra for internet access. The outdoor pool was great with a lovely view of Burj Khalifa. The services and prices of the spa are reasonable in comparison to some spa services offered in some other places. Most of the hotel restaurants and bar outlets are located outside the hotel, which can be a short hot unpleasant walk in the summer months. We visited Double Decker, it was loud, busy but fun and popular with expats. The food there was wholesome and good standard for pub food. breakfast was very good, with an huge array and selection of food. Overall the Al Murooj Rotana is a very pleasant hotel in a great location and my stay was enjoyable.
I have used the Iranian hospital for dental treatment and I was very satisfied. Although it can be busy and you have to wait for your turn, I never had to wait more than 30 minutes. I had a new ceramic crown and root canal treatment done, and it cost me a fraction of the price, that I was quoted for private dental clinics in Dubai. The prices are very reasonable, and I was not charged for the pharmacy medicines (antibiotics and analgesia) or follow up treatment. All medical/dental staff are friendly and professional, the dentists and his nurse called me at home to follow up on my treatment and I had a direct number I was able to call if I had any problems following the treatment. Although the Iranian hospital is not as modern as some hospitals and clinics here in the UAE, it is clean and professional. I was very satisfied with my treatment and the reasonable cost.
Zaroob is a very unique levant concept with an amazing funky and original decor. The atmosphere is traditionally charming, with a fantastic ambiance, makes you very nostalgic, a great place to hang out and relax. Zaroob offers mouth watering fusion of Arabic cuisine - popular dishes from around the Arab world. They offer charcoal sharwamas, oven baked man'oushe, saj, foul, hommous, falafel and freshly made juices. I tried the Egyptian fateer meshattat, the falafel and the Lebanese saj, which were all delicious and tasty. Staff are very friendly, prices are reasonable and it is good value for money.
Milk & Honey is a great gourmet grocery store on Palm Jumeirah. I like to visit Milk & Honey from time to time, because they sell good quality organic products. I am health conscious and like organic produce as it has loads of flavor. Every time I go there, I always buy their delicious freshly baked bread, Sugar Daddy/Hey Daddy cupcakes, fresh juices and their ready to salads. It is the ideal place to buy a gift hamper for foodie friends, as they have a great selection of good quality oil, vinegars and teas. They have a lovely selection of nuts and seeds, as well as super foods like berries and maca powder. They also have a delicatessen, where you can get a nice selection of olives, semi dried tomatoes and grilled eggplants. Their prices may be a bit higher than major supermarkets but they often have great offers as well. I love the convenience of Milk & Honey, being open 24 hours day and having home delivery.
Just Falafel is one of the best falafel restaurants in Dubai, serving really amazing good falafal. All food in Just Falafel is vegetarian. I go to the Al Barsha branch near the Mall 0f Emirates. They have different falafel sandwiches - Lebanese, Emirati, Indian, Greek, Italian, Japanese and Mexican, all are really delicious. They also serve fries, falafel burger and falafel qasadias. The restaurant is very clean and Staff are friendly. Service is good and you get great value for your money. Although there is limited seating, it is perfect takeaway for lunch or as a stop for a quick bite on the way home. They also have the convenience of home delivery. I highly recommended a visit to Just Falafel, for their excellent falafel sandwiches, you will not be disappointed.
Al Samadi Cafe and Sweet Shop is the perfect place during Ramadan to try some of the once-a-year pastries that take centre stage on the iftar table - especially the deep-fried qatayef, as well as traditional awamah, kunafa and baklava. There are over 70 Arabic sweets, pastries and biscuits to choose from at Al Samadi and they present it wrapped it in an iced blue or mint box, the perfect Ramadan treat or gift.
Sloane's is a great place to have Iftar during Ramadan. Their food is fresh and delicious. Sloane's has a spectacular open show kitchen, a fitting centrepiece in a restaurant, where dishes are cooked to diners’ exact specifications as each chef attends to their area of specialty - whether at the authentic pizza oven, the wok, preparing the day’s freshest catch, or carving a selection from the rotisserie. Sloane's offers an array of traditional dishes including chicken moulkia, kibbe and slow cooked lamb ouzi, the food is perfect for Iftar or just enjoying a good meal with friends and family.
I love the atmosphere, ambiance and decorations, that Jumeirah Beach Hotel has during Ramadan. They have authentic tents to celebrate the Arabian culture and perfect to fully experience Ramadan. The décor reflects the rich and lively culture of the Middle East, featuring open sides with low cushion seating on natural mats. It is lovely to have a delicious Iftar at Diwan Al Khayal with panoramic views of the Arabian Sea. One can be transported into the exotic world of Arabia, With their Arabic guitar player, Ramadan nights will be filled with soulful rhythms that will stay with you forever. Jumeirah Beach Hotel is the perfect place to experience the traditional sights and sounds of Ramadan.
Wafi Gourmet is one of my favorite restaurants to order food for takeaway during Ramadan, because the food is seriously good and it is fast. This Arabic Lebanese restaurant offers hot and cold meals, with a wide variety of salads and sides as well as grills. One must try their stuffed vine leaves, cheese sambousek, baklava and lamb mandi. It is fast because most of their dishes are ready to go, including the daily dishes, unless you are ordering from the grill, which usually takes time to cook. Although their food is slightly more expensive than the average Arabic restaurant, it is worth it.
I like to shop at Carrefour during Ramadan, because they have several specialized date stations, with a wide selection to please every taste, be it prepacked or loose. if you are not sure of which ones to pick, you can always ask the vendor for advise. They have a date called Ajwa from the city of Medina in Saudi Arabia, is famous for it's quality and taste, and which also comes at a price. personally I select 3 kinds, the deseeded soft dates, a prepacked and of course Ajwa, which is my favorite. Overall, the wide variety of dates available and friendly advise from the vendors at Carrefour makes it easier to shop for dates, be it an amateur or an expert in dates.
I like to shop at Union Co-operative society because they offer quality products at reasonable prices. Their prices are the most competitive and they always have great deals, especially during Ramadan, it would be hard to beat their prices at other supermarkets. They offer a lot of local produce which is good and helps to keep prices down. I find their fruit and vegetable very fresh, cheaply priced and seem to last longer, than a lot of fruit/vegetables that I buy from other supermarkets. Meat and fish are also well priced and very fresh. They also have good deals on electronics and home appliances. I would recommend Union Co-operative Society to anyone who wants to shop and get quality products at competitive prices.
I had the pleasure of staying in the Park Hyatt last year and it was a fantastic experience. The suite are spacious and comfortable. I had a room with a marina/creek view with yachts and it was an amazing view to look out to. Room service was effecient and staff were friendly and helful. I had dinner at Traiteur and the french food served was fantastic. The breakfast was very good and I was able to sit outside as the weather was nice, a lovely experice. This is one of my favourite place to stay in Dubai and I would highly recommend it to others.
I went to Paris Gallery to buy a gift for a male friend. There was an amazing choice of products for both men and women and all very good brands. The store was well presented and attactive to me, making me want to look at lot of other products on offer. Staff were curtious and helpful and able to advise me on a suitable gift to buy. I received airmiles which was a great bonus. Overall a very pleasant experience.
I eat at Noodle House quite often as it is one of the best asian fusion restaurants in Dubai. The menu caters for people who eat meat/fish/chicken and also for vegetarians. I a vegetarian and love their veg pad thai and also the veg green curry. The food quality is great, served quickly and reasonable prices. The Noodle Houses, I have eaten at - Emirates Towers and Madinat Jumeirah, are always clean and staff are professional, friendly and efficient. Overall excellent food at good prices and will remain one of my favourites.
