Unless you're into eating muscles and beer battered fish, this place is NOT for you. And, excuse me, if I wanted to pay top dollar for my meal, I wouldn't order pub food, amiright?
Having said that, they've got a pretty eclectic and wide selection of brews, so totally worth it for having a kwak in it's quaint 'little' wooden holder, and a nice outdoor area by the marina plus live bands on the weekend :)
Went here for the first time last night and LOVED it. The decor is absolutely phenomenal, and there's 3 good things to say about having a roof top place: the view will always be lovely, there is both out- and indoor seating, there will always be some sort of breeze at 12 floors up! (even in a hot month in Abu Dhabi)
Wednesday is ladies' night, so unlimited free cocktails! From a choice of 5 or 6 fun things, too, like Bay breeze or Caiprinha (is that how you spell it?) and Mojitos. Service was good, apart from one waiter who bent over and practically had his backside in my face! And they threatened to charge one of them men for drinking a free ladies' cocktail.
We were sitting outdoors for the most part, but we did go in to see the DJ spinning for...well, no one, there was only a couple of people inside, and the place is quite big, so it was beyond empty on the dance floor. You best know we brought it down. So it's safe to say, it's a nice place for a chill evening, but maybe it picks up on the weekends?
Well, I love 'em! Junk food at it's finest and most hopelessly decadent. No longer do we have to delicately eat these one by one, but we get to shovel them down with a spork, cheese, sauces and all. That may sound disgusting, but I assure you, it's a delight. Especially when I'm feeling particularly careless about my 'diet' lol
The dessert! It's beyond. Of course, I'm an easy sell when it comes to sugary treats, so manbe I'm not the best judge.
The waiters, although friendly, are rarely...um, servicey? By no fault of their own, I suppose it's my accent they can't understand...I should really learn more Arabic that 'marhaba' and 'shukran'!!
Kind of a sucker for all kinds of Lebanese food, but this is not your typical dawali and hummus type joint. I just love their kishek and even more so their brown 'ajeen with kofta, tomatoes and mayo. Delish! Value for money is only so-so...considering it will cost you just a fraction to get a cheese manoosha at the co-op (2.50 Dhs! as opposed to 15 or something at ZwZ)
Still, I love their waiters, and the kooky menu and place mat games keep you occupied until you get your food :)
Really love all the Spinneys branches.
I think their fresh food and produce sections are really clean and well stocked, the prices are a little above average, but it's worth it for the overall pleasant shopping experience (no weird smells or over crowding with pushy people).
Mmmm Zaika is zaki! I love indian food - from the 2 dhs masala shops to the 20 dhs fastfood to 200 dhs main courses at fancy restaurants...and zaika does the fast food category well - not too oily like most fast food, which was surprising. try their biryani!
This is a great place for ladies' night! Granted, it's a little bit empty, but the DJ is hella good and the male:female ratio is at a good rate, especially given the club scene here is a bit dismal in that regard.
Tuesdays mean free wine for the ladies (red, white or bubbly) - and guys only have to pay a 50 Dhs cover charge.
Kitchen is open till midnight for some yummy appetizers.
Well, it's nothing like the old Souq, but I'm not about to start the comparisons, because it was obviously built to be an entirely different place. It's nice and appeals to tourists, but it's more of a place to go for coffee than some serious shopping. Hopefully when the stores all open it'll be a different story. It does have kind of a mall-but-not-a-mall feel to it, which is interesting to say the least.
There's never a limit to how many things I long for in this store. Quality products at reasonable prices. What's left to say.
The staff are always SUPER helpful and very friendly, and will go out of their way to show you matching items, or suggest other options.
The store is available in all the major malls, and normally next to the original shoe store (yay for matching shoes! lol)
Love it! And their new menu just kicked in the nick of time. I was only seconds away from having tried everything on their last menu.
They kept all their breakfast classics, but their new lunch/dinner items kick royal petootie. The last burger I ordered was stacked with onion rings (pure genius - hand battered, too!)
And it's also one of the few places left in AD with the decency to have a bottomless drinks tower (Iced tea, lemonade and two types of coffee). So, keep doing what you do, M&B. I am truly your number one fan.
I just thought it would be worth mentioning that I'm always a little bit annoyed at restaurants that close during late afternoon/evening. Whether that has anything to do with keeping up quality and appearances, I'm not sure.
But late lunches are not an option so much as an early dinner!
Still, the food is good, and the service always comes with a smile. And if the weather allows, outdoor seating is spectacular!
Love it! I think the food court at Wahda Mall in general holds the most promise for good food than other malls.
Example: Fuddruckers! I'm a sucker for Tex Mex and these guys know their burger meat
The service is impeccably good without being annoying, not like other restaurants of the same style.
It was a pleasant surprise given I wasn't expecting much :)
I have a firm policy against buying from chain stores unless they're on sale. I love Zara and everything they have on offer, but their casual clothes are a bit pricey.
I would pay the same amount and more for their formal wear, however, as the quality is exponentially better.
Oh but their jeans are just terrible!
I <3 Audis. Unfortunately I have only ever had the experience of driving an A4, which is a smooth ride and a complete joy, of course...but I would love to feel the power of a bigger engine revving at my command!
The showroom is very well presented; they even seem to have a colour theme of mostly white with a couple of red cars.
Don't forget to head to the right wing of the showrrom, where they've featured the R8 spider on it's own...now that's a car!
EXCELLENT service. I can't begin to explain how friendly the waitresses were. I ordered a shared meal with my friend, and without asking, they brought out the same meal on two plates...how cute is that? And that's just the tip of it. They're very precise about making sure to ask you questions like if you want ice or lemon with your drink, which should go without saying but most places don't bother.
Oh, and well done on the food! The menu also features vegetarian items, which is a rare treat in the middle east.
Easily deserves a gold star sticker :P
I have nothing else to say. Except how awesome are chimichangas?? I don't know anywhere else in town that does them (deep-fried burritos, for the culinary-impaired...now do you understand why I'm so excited?)
Oh and the drinks are fun. Careful, though, either I'm a lightweight or they make them strong ;)
Nice place to stop for a bite. It helps if you live in the area, because there is basically nothing else to do there! Villas villas villas palace and a roundabout, that's the area for you.
Still would like to compliment the excellent service and superb quality of the food. Worth every penny.
Make sure to try the actual brioche. Go early and get them fresh: mouth-watering!
Like the man said, the service isn't spectacular...but that's kind of to be expected with a place so big!
I just love the setting and the outdoorsiness of it. Wood and grass makes a nature lover feel just a little bit less like she's sitting at a hotel, lol...oh, and the fresh baked pizzas and pastries!
lllllllllove the turtle mocha at this place! it's just aces!
it's not bad for a mall location either, but it's kind of hidden...which is good for noise-canceling purposes. plus, smokers can go outside and feel free to pollute empty mall space lol
so i recommend sitting way inside in the booths. so you feel like you're in an actual coffee shop
This place is great, and very family-friendly...meaning I'd take my mom there :P
I've only been there for a coffee and dessert, so I don't know what the rest of the menu looks like, but I do recommend it for sure.
More pastry reviews, I know, right? This place I will recommend only to stop and take things to go. Seriously. Don’t sit there. It doesn’t feel incredibly clean (mostly coz it’s open to the entire mall at the entrance) and it’s pretty noisy.
Oh, but the donuts are to die for! I recommend every last one of them, including the original. And although the chocolate dreamcake lives up to its name, you might wanna stay away from the New York cheesecake.
Love this place. No complaints whatsoever!
Just wish I could keep from my temptation to keep ordering enchiladas, coz I definitely need to try some new things. Chimichangas sound AWEsome.
I absolutely adore their made-to-order guacamole. I watched them intensely a couple of times, then started making it myself at home. Piece of cake, as it turns out! And yummier than cake, I might add :)
The service here sets it apart from regular indian restaurants by miles...and the view on the water, with the Sheikh Zayed mosque - priceless.
And between the amazing appetizers and main course, they'll pamper you with a little shot of vanilla lemonade to cleanse your palate. Delicious!
I wish I could recommend some dishes, but I can't remember their names! So go for the shredded meat patty for the appetizer - the waiter will help you with the rest!
I always feel silly when these guys start doing tricks with ice cream, but i have to admit, it's kind of cool. they've got some serious skills! i can't toss tiny scoops of ice cream at my friends and expect not to get it all over their faces!
Brownie points for the efforts of the staff here. Oh and double fudge brownie points for the AWEsome ice cream!!
Try mixing cookie dough and peanut butter cup pieces into a cake flavoured ice cream....mmmmmmmmm
