Eeeeexcellent food! I cannot rave on more about just how great an idea this place had: Afghani-Californian fusion?! Genius.
Make sure to order all 4 shareable platters if you're in a group - every one is better than the other (steamed meat dumplings, potato pastries, roasted pumpkin - yes, PLEASE!)
I had the flattened beef kabob with spiced rice and I heard the burgers are equally delicious. Soooo worth the drive to Al Bandar (it's only 20 mins, right after the Al Dar pill-building). Very friendly waiters :)
It's a tad pricey for a small place, but just make sure they don't charge you service (they tried to pull that off with us, but they're not allowed to legally as they're not a hotel). This is really my only complaint, but honestly, I was gonna pay a hefty tip anyway so...
Not a bad place to spend a Thursday night, but make sure you're in a big group, coz crowd gets a tiny bit weird in the later hours. Still, the music is always a fun mix of 90s and current top 40s so put your dancing shoes on and go for a casual fun night out!
I've been going here for a few years now (as has the rest of my family) but I can't say I'm completely satisfied with the service. The doctors, although fairly competent, won't go out of their way to explain to you what exactly is wrong.
And the system in place for picking up meds...well, let's just say that you'll be doing a lot of sitting around and waiting. Which is not necessarily what you want to be doing when you're ill.
They do, however, accept all sorts of insurance, and it's not really a hassle getting in or out, just hand over your card and...do some waiting!
Loved it! I'm not normally a fan of soup, but their nacho soup is something beyond love. Filled with crunchy nacho curls and shredded chicken with a tomato base.
I also had their rocca salad with pine nuts, which really hit the spot. I have a special place in my tummy for pine nuts. By this time I hadn't gotten around to the main course coz I was so stuffed on their bottomless chips n dip (dips are good, mildy spicy salsa and bean dip. but their sour cream is basically just labneh...boo!)
Service was friendly, albeit a little slow. Atmosphere is fun when they have a live band playing. But I don't recommend getting a private room because the doors close, but it's basically as useful as a net (tiny windows with no glass) and the table is far too round and big to have a decent conversation with anyone other than the people right next to you.
Price? Depends on your order. I only spent around 100++
I'm not a kid, so I can't really judge size-wise, but it looks like kind of a tiny rink. I suppose it's ok for a mall and to keep someone entertained for a bit while the parents have drinks in one of the overlooking coffee shops. If you actually want to go ice skating though, beter head to the old skate rink.
Seems like kind of a rip-off price for fries, but DAMN those toppings are good! They don't really offer any untraditional add-ons, but they do have the kind of thing you would find on nachos (yes, including sour cream, spring onions and meat).
I have had them served to me under-cooked once, though, and it's not like there was a huge crowd waiting, they had plenty of time to get my order right...just didn't *shrugs
It's not bad, but you have plenty of other options at the food court
I had a terrifying experience here, and I'm not ashamed to admit it - I was watching a scary movie with my best friend and there was NO ONE ELSE in the theater! Needless to say I spent the whole movie frantically clutching at my friend to make sure she was still there every time I heard a sputter or squeak. What I'm trying to say it's: 1) great that they'll run a movie regardless of the number of attendees but 2) on the other hand, it seems to always be empty? Even on a weekend?
I love coming here just for Jarir bookstore. It's not just excellent for books and art supplies, but I actually got my laptop there for a decent price - and they've got great offers on books (3 for 2, etc)
Unfortunately, the presence of the co-op makes this place way over crowded, which is strange to find so far out of the city!
What I like about this place is that every night is different. You expect to go for French food and end up having something off a theme night from Seafood, Italian, Chinese, Indian and Arabic.
Don't forget the Friday Family Brunch!
Bit of a money burner, but it's a nice experience
The Noodle House is the place to go to if you are in the mood for both Chinese and Japanese cuisine. It is not your typical Chinese/Japanese restaurant; as you write your order on a card which is later picked up by the waiter! it sounds like a silly system but I like it because it makes me feel in control! Dining at The Noodle House was a wonderful experience where you get to experience the flavours and aroma of the East in a comfy setting.
Lovely seating indoors and smokers are kicked out to the mall, which is good news for the non-smokers.
The food is served in a near-gourmet manner, and the service is efficient without being overbearing.
Just about the only downside is the location. It seems strange to go out of your way to get to a mall with very few decent stores. But that also means that it's never too crowded to find a table :)
I could hang out there every day...but mainly because i live in the muaskar nhayyan block, lol, so it's got the 'walking-distance' convenience on my part. Plus the area is so empty that parking is never a problem...food's not bad at all and the iced tea (i live for iced tea) is quite decent too.
Good crowd? That's just me ;)
I have to agree: the food is really good...but oh my God, can they quit it with the sugary drinks already?? Seriously, they're on overload and trying to cause diabetes with those mocktails. They're really good, but make sure you ask for syrup on the SIDE.
That being said, they have sweet potato fries...in the middle east! sweet potato fries!! seriously, they're the only place i know that serves them. so i instantly love them. mini hamburgers (sliders?) are terrific. brownies are also terrific.
i wasn't always a fan of friday's, but they've really stepped up their game...
ughhhhhhh, don't even TRY to go here on a weekend! i would love to give the staff points on coping with all the traffic they get, but the poor things, it's always so crowded, they can't catch a break any more than any of us can.
and let's face it. the pizza is pretty damn greasy. nuh-uh. not doing that again. there are better options, and you should be seeking them.
and don't even think about delivery: they will leave you hanging on the phone, maybe even shutting it in your face, then they'll call you 5 times coz they're lost, then they'll be half an hour LATE (on top of the half hour you've been waiting)...the cherry on top? they'll charge you for delivery. and it's not the poor delievry guy's fault, it's the call centre. so of course he'll say sorry anyway and you're gonna wanna tip him
no one wins
What's not to love about this place, it's great fun, good music, funky cocktails in gigantic punch bowls with funny names and decorated with tropical flowers!
I don't normally go for dinner, but I can tell you their appetizers are a blast!
ah all prints. i'm like a kid in a candy store when i go here. they just have such an awesome collection of stationary (and i love me some nerdy stationary) from art supplies to office supplies.
as a bookstore i suppose it's good for the classics, but not much else more contemporary. the books are just a little bit on the expensive side (yeah, even the paperbacks) but the store on the whole has a very cosy feel (or maybe those are just my childhood memories of the place sinking in)
oh my goooooooooooooooooooood!
you only need to answer one question with this place: do you love meat? no, like, really, do you love meat so much you dream about it at night?
this place is for you. dish after dish after dish of all kinds of meat keep coming to your table until you say no!
tip from an expert: skip the salad bar, you want to save all your energy for the main courses. and if you think they're gonna stop, think again. they'll feed you pineapple to open your appetite then serve you even more meat!
Yeah it's a little bit pricey for the kind of cafe it is, but overall it's ok - i like the 'balcony' area too, it's quite comfy. the service is good when you first get there...then they kind of forget you're still there lol
